Stress significantly induced inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 expression in the liver, however Sea Tangle supplementation and regular exercise significantly inhibited stress-induced the levels of iNOS and COX-2 proteins. To investigate the mechanism by which Sea Tangle supplementation and regular exercise inhibited iNOS and COX-2 expression, we examined the extent of IkappaB (I¥êB) degradation. Sea Tangle supplementation and regular exercise significantly attenuated the stress-induced I¥êB degradation. Taken together, these findings provide important new insights that Sea Tangle supplementation and regular exercis exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by suppressing the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokine genes through the nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-¥êB) signaling pathway.
